There is my way and God’s way. What happens when we live God’s way? Imagine an orchard and the fruit that it produces. That is what God does for us. It is a gift because He loves us so much and is so very good. His gifts are like fruit just showing up one day. Bam!!!
So what are some of the gifts he gives us so freely? A real affection for others. Nothing fake at all. How about that amazing exuberance for living every day for Him? Remember the serenity that comes from knowing that He is so great? How about that compassion we sensed one day when normally we wouldn’t even care? And that conviction that we have never experienced before. A sense of being set apart for God and His purpose.
Now here is a gift worth receiving. Finding ourselves involved in loyal commitments we have never imagined before.
May we marshal our energy wisely taking full advantage of His gifts.
- What fruit am I bearing? (mww1954.wordpress.com)
What happens when I live God’s way? (I am pausing here to think on this!!!)
What kind of fruit is it? Things like affection for others. True caring for them. A passion for life. Serenity and peace. I have a willingness to stick with things. No starting and not finishing. Compassion for God and my friends. I get His gift of a basic holiness that permeates everything I do and the people I know. I find myself involved in extremely loyal commitments. I don’t have to force my way through anything. I am able to marshal my energy.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other. Galatians 5:22-26
His wisdom has an interesting characteristic to it. It shows me how to get along with everyone. I know some interesting people who are not always reasonable. God’s wisdom isn’t that way. His wisdom is very gentle. His wisdom has so many blessings attached to it. I should focus on expanding relationships with those who live right with God and produce the results that go with that kind of living.
There is some hard work that goes with getting along with each other. Producing a harvest doesn’t happen by magic. The results of treating others with dignity and honor is an amazing right standing with my heavenly Father. It will overflow.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness. James 3:17-18
“This total surrender to “the love of Christ” is the only thing that will bear fruit in your life.” ~~Oswald Chambers
There is a distinction between those that God has redeemed and those he hasn’t. Those in right standing with Him are like the tree of life replanted in Eden. Eternal life is ours. We will never loose our fruit. We will never drop a leaf. We will always blossom.
Another way of seeing it is the road we on with Jesus. The redeemed have our way laid out by God. The wicked are on Skid Row.
May I stay on the road with Jesus and bear fruit for His world.
You’re a tree replanted in Eden, bearing fresh fruit every month, Never dropping a leaf, always in blossom. You’re not at all like the wicked, who are mere windblown dust— Without defense in court, unfit company for innocent people. God charts the road you take. The road they take is Skid Row. Psalm 1:3-6
I don’t like wormy apples. No one does. It is just not right. The ultimate gross out for sure. I love fresh, juicy apples. So, I must begin with my heart. I want healthy fruit.
So what is in my heart? Do I long for what counts? Am I starting with what matters and working from there?
May I have healthy fruit that comes from a pure heart. May my true being spill forth from my heart.
You don’t get wormy apples off a healthy tree, nor good apples off a diseased tree. The health of the apple tells the health of the tree. You must begin with your own heart. It’s who you are in your heart, not what you say and do, that counts. Your true being brims over into true words and deeds. Luke 6:43-45
In the middle of the night, I cry out to you O God. There is a longing in my heart for you. It just won’t go away. I can’t put it off. I don’t want to defer it to another time. Delay is not right at all. I want my heart to be whole and well. And so I seek you. I cry out to you. When I don’t have the energy any longer, I know you do. When I don’t feel I can go on, I know you did and so I can. Your strength is my hope. Your courage is all I need.
You are so good to fulfill my longing for what I need. You are a tree of life. Your love is a very healthy tree. The fruit so lucious. There is plenty for me. It’s branches just keep spreading out for me to take the fruit.
Your love is so enduring. My heart is whole because of you!! You are love. Your new agreement with me is based on your love.
May my longing for you produce the fruit of a right living life. May your rest be my peace.
Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life. Proverbs 13:12
