What is the signet that we have?

God has given us the Holy Spirit. That is a sign of His authority in our life. He has left us with power, His power. That is an amazing thing. What a great God we have.

And, that is not all. The Holy Spirit in our life is only the beginning. God has so many wonderful things in store for us. And we will receive them all. Not a one will be withheld from us. The Holy Spirit in our life is the sign of all the glory to come.

“This signet (the Holy Spirit) from God is the first installment on what’s coming, a reminder that we’ll get everything God has planned for us, a praising and glorious life.” ~Apostle Paul (Ephesians 1:14 The Message)

Do we see that we have finished the most difficult part?

Do we see that we have finished the most difficult part? In the salvation that Jesus offers us, we aren’t quite there yet but we are home free. The hard part is behind us. We have the Holy Spirit now and we are on our way to maturity in God.

What brings this about? We have heard the truth. That is the starting point. And, having heard it, we believe the good news. We no longer listen to our enemy. We know that Jesus has saved us from missing God’s goal for us.

We are home free.

“It’s in the Messiah that you, once you heard the truth and believed it (this Message of  good news of your salvation), found yourselves home free—signed, sealed, and delivered by the Holy Spirit.” ~Apostle Paul (Ephesians 1:13 The Message)

Which one of these is your church?

November 3, 2012 4 comments

We have a choice about what kind of church we attend. Which will it be? One where the power of Jesus the Messiah rules everyone and everything OR one where we feel good?

That’s why, when I heard of the solid trust you have in the Master Jesus and your outpouring of love to all the followers of Jesus, I couldn’t stop thanking God for you—every time I prayed, I’d think of you and give thanks. But I do more than thank. I ask—ask the God of our Master, Jesus the Messiah, the God of glory—to make you intelligent and discerning in knowing him personally, your eyes focused and clear, so that you can see exactly what it is he is calling you to do, grasp the immensity of this glorious way of life he has for his followers, oh, the utter extravagance of his work in us who trust him—endless energy, boundless strength!

All this energy issues from the Messiah: God raised him from death and set him on a throne in deep heaven, in charge of running the universe, everything from galaxies to governments, no name and no power exempt from his rule. And not just for the time being, but forever. He is in charge of it all, has the final word on everything. At the center of all this, the Messiah rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence. Ephesians 1:19-23 The Message (MSG)

What is God’s master plan?

August 15, 2012 2 comments

God has a plan.

Stop and think about that.

God has a plan. He has a plan for us. He has had His eye on us. Looking to do great things in and through us.

God has a “master plan” for how everything works together to bring His ultimate designs together. He is God. This is the way he works. He isn’t into “one offs”. It all works together for achieving what He has had in mind all this time.

“Long before we first heard of the Messiah and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” ~Apostle Paul (Ephesians 1:12 The Message)

How long has God been planning to adopt us?

August 3, 2012 1 comment

When you are thinking about someone all the time, it is clear you love them. They are the focus of your love. You take great pleasure in planning out the most simple things to please them. Nothing is too lavish to give them. It doesn’t matter what it costs, you take pleasure in making it happen. You make every moment a celebration. You are blessed in making it happen.  Lavish love

This is our God and His love for  us. He has planned it all out from the beginning. We have been and always will be on His mind.

How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son. Ephesians 1:3-6

Who am I? What am I living for?

August 1, 2012 2 comments

Who am I?

What am I living for?

These are essential questions. Questions that we want answers for. And so we have good news. In Jesus, the Messiah, we find the answers to these questions. He makes it all clear to us. We are living for God. It is our mission to love Him like we love nothing else. Our focus is on what He wants today. He wants us to love everyone we meet or know. Friends, enemies, strangers. We are to love them all.

It’s in the Messiah that we find out who we are and what we are living for. (Ephesians 1:11 The Message)

Want wisdom? It is all about knowing Jesus better

I long to know Jesus better. That is it. That is the BIG thing I want in my life. Jesus only did what He saw His Father doing. He set the clear example for us. That is it for sure where I need to be going with things.

I want His intelligence. I want His wisdom. I desire discernment in knowing Jesus personally. But the end of it all is to know Him better.

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 1:17
