How does change begin?

The family is the core of values and all teaching. If you spend time together as family, the truth comes through. This is real and it is not to be ignored.

“My mother and brothers are the ones who hear and do God’s Word. Obedience is thicker than blood.” ~~Jesus

Jesus challenges us to see the reality of GOD’s World (Kingdom). Who is our family? Who are our mother’s, brothers and sisters? What is family all about?

What is that reality? Obedience is the only thing that matters. Who is obeying GOD? They are our family. We need to be loyal to them. We need to love them.

Jesus throws conventional wisdom on its ear. Blood is not the thicker than water.

It is all about who is doing what GOD wants to have done today. Find them. Connect with them.

“My mother and brothers are the ones who hear and do GOD’s Word. Obedience is thicker than blood.” ~~Jesus (Luke 8:21 The Message)

Will I do it today?

December 19, 2011 Leave a comment

It is a new day. Yesterday is gone. And we have a choice to make. Will I make it today? Will I make the right choice?

Do we want to serve God? Do we want to serve something else?

It is a choice we get to make. God won’t make it for us. Our family and friends can’t do it either.

I choose God. I will serve Him. I do it today.

“If you decide that it’s a bad thing to worship God, then choose a god you’d rather serve—and do it today. Choose one of the gods your ancestors worshiped from the country beyond The River, or one of the gods of the Amorites, on whose land you’re now living. As for me and my family, we’ll worship God.” Joshua 24:15

“I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart.” ~~King David

It all starts at home. Work is important and so is the church, but living love out at home is where it all starts and ends. It can’t be faked at home. Either I do things out of love with a blameless heart or I don’t. Everyone at home knows.

And so I seek to do every act at home out of pure love. No selfishness. No boasting. No ego gratification. Only love.

I will conduct the affairs of my house with a blameless heart. Psalm 101:2

Now here is some VERY good news. Pretty simple and straightforward. In this day of complicated programs and books, simplicity rocks. The kids even have it on a bracelet. WWJD. What would Jesus Do?

God’s plan is for me to do what He has in mind for me. All the time. That puts me in the family of God. Good news for sure.

For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother. Matthew 12:50

You get to walk right in!

In our family, like most families, being a “member of the household” means something special! It means you walk right into the house without knocking. It means family members wait up for you when you are out late. It means that you are cared for enough that somebody wants to know where you’re going, when you will be back and reminds you to “be safe.” It means you get a kiss when you go out the door in the morning. That’s what being a member of the household means. And the Good News is that we are members of God’s household. And it’s the very same way at His House. So go on right in! And don’t forget to yell “I’m HOME!!!” He’s so very glad to see you!

“Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household,” -Ephesians 2:19
