Spice in a bland world

February 3, 2013 Leave a comment

Jesus showed us why we are here. We are like seasoning. We spice things up. We bring out the flavor that without us is bland. We take natural things and make it supernatural. So what happens if we loose our flavoring? How will people taste the aroma of our seasoning? If we don’t spice things up we will loose our usefulness and end up in the garbage.

May we always bring our Fathers flavor to a bland world!!

We think there are so many things we need. And need, is how we frame it. We can’t imagine not having that nice new car. We must have it. The new flat screen HD TV. Got to have it. The nice meal out. Must do it soon.

Jesus challenges us to see our life in God’s world as the essense of what God is saying to us right now. That is the only thing that is important. Nothing else is. All else is an idol compared to our living God.

We must see our life as Jesus challenges us. We must change our minds about what is important. We can live a life that is focused on that steady stream of God’s words that He gives us every moment of every day.

“It takes more than a great meal to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.” ~~Jesus (Matthew 4:4 The Message)

“The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started.” ~~Jesus

Jesus challenges us to focus on the main thing. It isn’t about what our next meal will be or what will be on the menu. It is about doing what God wants us to do right now. Doing God’s will step by step, every day. All those steps add up to His grand plan for His world (the Kingdom).

Doing what God wants right now is our source of energy.

“The food that keeps me going is that I do the will of the One who sent me, finishing the work he started.” ~~Jesus (John 4:34 The Message)

“Give her something to eat.” ~~Jesus

The events of the day had been stunning. A 12 year old had just been raised from the dead. What is Jesus first concern? She is hungry. Get her some food. Jesus knows what is important and when it is important. He never ignores what we need and when we need it. That is just the way God is.

“I have food to eat you know nothing about.” ~~Jesus

It can be confusing to talk with Jesus. We’re talking this world and He’s talking about God’s world. He challenges to see things from God’s perspective; from His world. So, when we talk about food that isn’t the kind of food He is thinking about. This seriously confused His disciples when He was here. It can confuse us today if we aren’t careful.

May I see things His way and not my way.

“I have food to eat you know nothing about.” ~~Jesus (John 4:32)
