All who wander are not lost. Israel knew how to get to the promised land. They didn’t have the courage to go.

Wandering around is not a sign you are lost. In your heart, you probably know where God wants you to go. We need to be bold. He gives us faith and courage.

Let’s head on up to the promised land. God has given it to us. Be brave. God is with us.

What decision will I make?

I have a decision to make. I get to make it every day. Is it a bad thing to worship God? I can worship something else.  I can worship someone else. Now would be the time to choose.

I also get to choose for my family as well.

I choose to worship God. Me and my family.

“If you decide that it’s a bad thing to worship God, then choose a god you’d rather serve—and do it today. Choose one of the gods your ancestors worshiped from the country beyond The River, or one of the gods of the Amorites, on whose land you’re now living. As for me and my family, we’ll worship God.” ~~Joshua 24:15

As I get older …

As I get older, I want to be like Caleb. He was one of the 12 Moses selected to go into the Promised Land to see what it was like. Only he and Joshua thought they could conquer their enemies. The other 10 didn’t believe God and his promise. That resulted in Israel wondering around in the desert for 40 years.

So, fast forward. Eventually Joshua leads them all into the Promised Land. They fight for 5 years. Caleb comes to Joshua one day and says “I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadesh Barnea to explore the land. And I brought him back a report according to my convictions, but my fellow Israelites who went up with me made the hearts of the people melt in fear. I, however, followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly. So on that day Moses swore to me, ‘The land on which your feet have walked will be your inheritance and that of your children forever, because you have followed the LORD my God wholeheartedly.”

Caleb remember what God had told him. He held onto it for 45 years. He never wavered. So he continues his conversation with Joshua: “So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I’m just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now give me this hill country that the LORD promised me that day. You yourself heard then that the Anakites were there and their cities were large and fortified, but, the LORD helping me, I will drive them out just as he said.”

At 85 he wants to go and fight some more. He is strong and vigorous. He is ready to go at it. He wants what God promised him and he won’t stop until he gets it.

So … I want to be like Caleb.

Will I do it today?

It is a new day. Yesterday is gone. And we have a choice to make. Will I make it today? Will I make the right choice?

Do we want to serve God? Do we want to serve something else?

It is a choice we get to make. God won’t make it for us. Our family and friends can’t do it either.

I choose God. I will serve Him. I do it today.

Promises

Not one single promise has failed. How powerful those words. His word is filled to the brim with promises and not one has failed. How silly and shallow I am to even attempt to walk in doubt and fear. I have a promise of hope and a future, a promise of life and that more abundant. The ups and the downs they are part of the promise. He promises He will hold my hand, he will direct my path, he will give wisdom without resentment….not one single promise has failed. 

 As you can see, I’m about to go the way we all end up going. Know this with all your heart, with everything in you, that not one detail has failed of all the good things God, your God, promised you. It has all happened. Nothing’s left undone—not so much as a word. Joshua 23:14
