Will you trivialize yourself into silliness and confusion?

There are some “real” atheists. There are also many who believe there is a God but don’t believe in God. This is sad, because it is clear they don’t worship the creator of the universe and our loving Father.

What happens as a result. They follow all kinds of silly thoughts and this world’s (Not God’s world) culture. They try to find meaning in mission statements and success philosophies. It gets worse from there. Having their own mission they don’t have God’s and they don’t have true direction.

Of course, there is the opposite of this. I choose this way. I will worship God, the creator of the universe. I will not be trivialized into silliness and confusion. I will be God’s child and love Him as my Father. I will have His direction in my life.

“Refusing to worship him, they trivialized themselves into silliness and confusion so that there was neither sense nor direction left in their lives.” ~~Apostle Paul (Romans 1:20 The Message)

Who am I? What am I living for?

Who am I?

What am I living for?

These are essential questions. Questions that we want answers for. And so we have good news. In Jesus, the Messiah, we find the answers to these questions. He makes it all clear to us. We are living for God. It is our mission to love Him like we love nothing else. Our focus is on what He wants today. He wants us to love everyone we meet or know. Friends, enemies, strangers. We are to love them all.

It’s in the Messiah that we find out who we are and what we are living for. (Ephesians 1:11 The Message)

What is God’s mission for me?

Paul knew something. He wasn’t afraid to say it. God had commissioned him. He was on a mission for God and Jesus. Paul knew why he was doing what he was doing.

Do I know why I am doing what I am doing?

The answer to that is all important. In a world of “you will succeed if you have a mission statement” kind of thinking, what we think our mission is doesn’t matter. What is God’s mission for me?

“I’m God-commissioned.” ~~Apostle Paul (Galatians 1:3 The Message)

“You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies.” ~~Jesus

Jesus challenges us to go beyond what the rules say. He knows we focus on “what the rule says” and then find loopholes. Religion is about loopholes. GOD is about real love.

Our mission, according to Jesus, is an extraordinary kind of love. Our love is to be like GOD’s love. A love that almost can’t be understood. A love for even our enemies. His Spirit makes it happen for us.

Do we have a passion for that kind of love? Will we live that out today?

“You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ I’m challenging that. I’m telling you to love your enemies.” ~~Jesus (Matthew 5:44 The Message)

Jesus is on a mission. His Father has given Him very specific tasks to complete. He completes them. That is how we know about Jesus and His relationship with His Father. Jesus wants us to have the same relationship with His Father. Get on the mission. Complete the tasks.

“Long after stars burn out and earth wears out, God’s Law will be alive and working.” ~~Jesus

What is permanent in life. Not the things we think most days. Jesus is clear. The 2 most important things, as Jesus highlights, are to love God and love everyone else (our neighbors). That will never go away. God say it and it is the way things work in his new world. That is His goal for us. We have been given a clear mission. No need to think of “what is our mission” kind of stuff. God’s law is about relationships and it is alive and working in us.

Jesus is clear.

“Let me tell you why you are here.” ~~Jesus

Jesus is very clear. There is no doubt about what we are to do. The choice is will we obey Him.

Jesus calls us to go on a mission for Him and our Father. We are the seasoning of this planet. We must bring out God’s flavor and bring His Kingdom into all the countries. We are His light to shine the way to others. We must speak out. We must show His love. To choose otherwise is to abandon His way. The consequence of not being His seasoning for he world is to be useless and end up in the garbage. Not a pleasant thought.

“Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavors of this earth. If you lose your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.” ~~Jesus

Will I say to God, “I’ll go. Send me.”?

January 14, 2012 Leave a comment

Isaiah was an amazing man of God. He stood in God’s presence. He knew God intimately. One day he heard God say “Whom will I send?”

He didn’t look around and look and see who he was talking to. God wasn’t necessarily talking to Isaiah. God needed someone to go on a mission for Him.

Isaiah answered even though God wasn’t talking to him. He was ready and had a heart to go.

And then I heard the voice of the Master:

“Whom shall I send?

Who will go for us?”

I spoke up,

“I’ll go.

Send me!”

Stay awake!

We have work to do. Jesus has given a mission. Our assignment is clear. We can’t slack off.

We must be alert.

“So stay awake, alert.” ~Jesus (Matthew 24:42)
