“Keep open house; be generous with your lives.” ~~Jesus

December 23, 2012 4 comments

Jesus wants us to radically open. He links this to being generous. Everything we are belongs to our Father. Jesus knows that by opening up to others, we’ll prompt people to open up with God. They will see this generous Father we have in heaven.Generosity They will see, through our openness about God how wonderfully generous he is. What a loving Father He is.

This is core to the new agreement with God. Nothing is be hidden. Nothing is to be closed. Transparency is required. Jesus demands it.

“Keep open house; be generous with your lives.” ~~Jesus (Matthew 5:14-16 The Message)

Is my task to be open?

September 1, 2012 Leave a comment

Is my task to be open? Yes, I should focus what God is doing and make it clear to everyone I know. There is no room in God’s world to be secretive and quit about God. He challenges us shout out to everyone the good news of what He is doing.

God has been working behind the scenes all along. We didn’t know it for the longest time. Now we do. What should we do about that? Be silent? Don’t help others to see it?

No, we must speak up. We must give Jesus one huge Shout Out!!

My task is to bring out in the open and make plain what God, who created all this in the first place, has been doing in secret and behind the scenes all along.” ~Apostle Paul (Ephesians 3:10 The Message)

Is it all still a mystery? Will I hear God?

Is it all still a mystery? No, it is not at all.

Much about God’s world came seem mysterious. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be that way. Jesus got it out in the open. God’s word helps us understand what seemed vague before we came to God and got on the road to know Him every day.

Jesus is clear that he came to make known to us the mystery of how things work in God’s world (Kingdom). He does make everything crystal clear. Will we hear him? That is his challenge to us.

God is open. He wants us to be just like that.

“This mystery has been kept in the dark for a long time, but now it’s out in the open.” ~Apostle Paul (Colossians 1:26 The Message)

“By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” ~~Jesus

Jesus intends for us to have great relationships with people in our world. He demands that we love one another. This requires being open. When we reflect His love and are open, we are prompting others to have a relationship with our Father. Our generosity and love always points to our Father’s.

May I learn to be open like my Master Jesus.

“By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” ~~Jesus

Am I open to God?

I am open to God and what He wants to do. That is all that matters; what does God want? My soul thirst for God like I am living in the desert and need water to survive. Without Him and what He wants, I will die of thirst.

For the sheer joy of it

We get many gifts in life. Do I see tests and challenges as one of them? That is how I should see them. Challenges come at us from all sides. When they do, they are great gifts. They develop my faith life and give me supernatural courage as I see Him establish His peace. I should treasure tests as I would a prized possession.

More importantly, they mature me and help me grow in His ways. Our life in Him is not to be static. It is a life of growth and development. The develop me so that I don’t lack anything in my character. I should be joyful in my trials.

Consider it a sheer gift, friends, when tests and challenges come at you from all sides. You know that under pressure, your faith-life is forced into the open and shows its true colors. So don’t try to get out of anything prematurely. Let it do its work so you become mature and well-developed, not deficient in any way. James 1:2-4

May I be joyful in the challenges that come my way.

We're not hiding things; we're bringing everything out into the open

We like to hide. We don’t like to be transparent. There are things about us we don’t want others to know. Now, that is about us. It is not about God.

Jesus came that we might know God. Know him to the fullest. Know Him like He always intended. It is not about us. It is about Him.

“We’re not hiding things; we’re bringing everything out into the open.” Jesus (Luke 8 )
