Remember the early days?

January 24, 2013 Leave a comment

We should remember the early days when we first came to Jesus and saw the truth. Those were not always easy days. Friends didn’t understand. Family members laughed at us. They “knew” us too well. But, we knew who we knew.

He was with us through it all. We knew our real treasure. In one way, it seemed like nothing bothered us at all. We were willing to endure anything for Jesus. We were sure of Him.

So, will we throw it all away now? No, we need to stick it out no matter what.

We need to stay with the new plan. It is so much better than how we used to justify our self. The new plan is a sure thing. He has promised to complete everything and so we need to go for the prize. It isn’t going to take as long as we think. He will be back anytime now. We need to thrive on loyal trust. We can’t cut and run away.

We aren’t quitters. We aren’t losers. We are going to hang in and see it to the very end. Trusting Him who is always faithful.

He is the truth.

Will I finish? Will I persevere?

October 5, 2012 3 comments

It is one thing to start but it is completely another to finish and stay on course. King David knew what brings true happiness in life. Staying on course is one of them. Finishing the race is what is important. Many start. Not all finish.

It is not how I start that is as important as how I end. The only way to get there is to stay on course. Stick with God. That is the deal. Today and every day.

You’re more than happy when you stay on course, walking steadily on the road revealed by God. ~~King David (Psalm 119:1)

Did He bring me this far to leave me now?

How is it that I persevere? My will power can get me so far. That is dangerous in the long run. My will power isn’t good enough though. It is God who gives me the endurance to go all the way. God is in control. This is His world (Kingdom). Do I trust Him? Did He bring me this far to leave me now? No, He did not.

All along, He is there with me encouraging me. He cheers me on. He whispers in my ear. He holds my hand when I need it. He picks me up. He claps when I keep going. Loud “Whoo Hoos” ring in the air as shouts when I make it. He is steady in such a deep way.

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement … Romans 15:5

“Stand in line and take your turn.” ~~Jesus

Jesus had been pretty busy. He took a trip to a new area thinking he could get away for a while. He entered a house there where he didn’t think he would be found, but he couldn’t escape notice.

He was barely inside when a woman who had a disturbed daughter heard where he was. She came and knelt at his feet, begging for help. The woman was Greek, Syro-Phoenician by birth. She wasn’t a part of the Jewish faith so not a member of the favored religious groups.

She asked Jesus to cure her daughter. While not a part of the in crowd, she believed in Jesus completely.

So imagine her surprise at Jesus answer. “Stand in line” He says. Really?

He says a few more things intended, on the surface, to discourage her.

She said, “Of course, Master. But don’t dogs under the table get scraps dropped by the children?”

This impressed Jesus. He told her to go home and that her daughter was healed.

Imagine impressing Jesus. What is the key? Don’t get discouraged. Keep asking. Believe that He really wants to help. Really believe that. Know that your turn is coming.

“Stand in line and take your turn.” ~~Jesus (Mark 7:27 The Message)

Staying on my feet

He can keep me on my feet. I will never fall when I am in Him. I will stand tall in His bright presence. I will do the happy dance for sure and celebrate without end. There is no blame or fault finding in Him.

He is able. And He will.

To him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy. Jude 1:24

Kris Vallotton – Perseverance for Breakthrough

February 1, 2012 Leave a comment

Kris shares a powerful word about persisting and pressing on until we see the breakthrough we are looking for. “How long do you have to hit it?” “until it splits” “He equates faith with people who don’t lose heart” “Sometimes… I think that the lord is more interested in the work he’s doing IN us, than the work He’s doing THROUGH us”
